The ruse of presenting oneself on the battlefield as his friend Achilles costs Patrocles his life. Pretending to be someone else never ends well for any party—sorrow and guilt are given a visual representation here. 

The figures are rendered in gray-purple tones, giving them a stone-like, frozen quality. This raises a fundamental question: How long must queer stories remain hidden? This work refers to the many queer relationships in history that could not be acknowledged, recorded in mythology only as friendships while their deeper meaning was ignored.

In the background of the painting, a fiery orange sky blazes, crossed by diagonal streaks of clouds with golden outlines. This creates a visual tension between the stillness of the tragic figures and the powerful emotional energy of the sky—as if the painting screams for recognition while the figures themselves are doomed to silence.
